George Edwards: Black-capped Lory - GJ 22
George Edwards was born near the close of the seventeenth century and spent his early years travelling throughout Europe and sketching images of the many birds and animals he encountered along the way. This early work became the foundation of A Natural History of Uncommon Birds published between 1743 and 1751. So striking was the work that the later artist, Edward Seligmann, re-engraved the plates and published them in the equally remarkable Collection of Various Foreign and Rare Birds. We are happy to offer images from both works. The 5x7 card is blank inside and comes with an accompanying envelope. Shipping is free.
