Jablonsky: Darkwing Butterflies - CGJ 04
In 1783 Carl Gustav Jablonsky published the first really great work dedicated to butterflies titled Natursystem aller Bekannten: Schmetterlinge. Therein he attempted to classify butterflies according to the system developed by Linneaus and depicted the butterflies themselves as realistically as possible. Jablonsky also artistically arranged the engravings highlighting the butterflies shapes, colors and decorative patterns in ways that are pleasing to this day. We are happy to present a good selection from this work. The 5x7 card is blank inside and comes with an accompanying envelope - shipping is free.
